HOW TO BECOME A 2012 SPRINGFIELD-GREENE COUNTY PARK BOARD
SOFTBALL UMPIRE

 

1.         Pay Umpire Registration Fee of $48.00.  Make checks payable to the Missouri A.S.A.
2.         Complete the A.S.A. registration form. Pick up the A.S.A. rulebook and take home exam.
            Complete and return the exam.  Must make 80% or better on the exam.
3.         Attend the required umpire clinics and/or tune-up tournament.
4.         Complete and return the umpire contract, Park Board Agreement, W-9 form, background check.
5.         Must have or purchase the following equipment. (Minimum league requirement for slow-pitch)

            a.            A.S.A Umpire Cap and Navy Blue or Gray Shorts, Pants, or sweatpants
            b.            Light Blue or navy blue (not button up style) collared umpire shirt with A.S.A Emblem
                           ASA T-  shirts are not allowed, must be a pullover-collared shirt.
            c.            Ball bag, navy or gray
            d.            Ball, Strike, Out Indicator, Plate Brush, Flipping Coin
            e.            White Socks and Black shoes or cleats
            f.             Small kitchen timer for your game if needed when scoreboard is down      

2012 UMPIRE CLINIC SCHEDULE  

Monday, March 5 at 6:30 p.m. Clinic will be held at the Killian Softball Complex, 2141 E. Pythian.

Required for all umpires.  A look at the A.S.A. rules changes for 2011, what is new with ASA umpiring, your required equipment, and your required registration forms for ASA and the Park Board employment forms. Information about the 2011 softball tournaments in Springfield.

Monday, March 12 at 6:30 p.m. Clinic will be held at the Roger G. Killian Softball Complex, 2141 E. Pythian.

Required for all umpires. Your A.S.A. registration should be completed prior to this meeting. Also: local rules and exceptions for slow pitch softball. This night will include an on-the-field mechanics clinic, video and discussions.
